The site work is well underway. The 2017/2018 school year has begun and the temporary traffic measures are in place.
Security fencing is in place. School functions and construction activities are running simultaneously .
Utility relocation for the new road work is on schedule.
All site work tests indicate proper compaction and acceptable soil types.
At present the site contractor is moving and installing 3000 to 4000 yards of structural fill per day.
The project remains on schedule at this time.

The window installation is almost complete in the first classroom wing. The air conditioning duct system continues to make progress throughout the building.
The first prime coat of pain is nearing completion in the classroom wings. The HVAC equipment is expected to arrive in August so the building can begin to be climatized.

The site development package has been bid and awarded.
Five site contractors submitted bids. Hiers & Co was the low responsive bidder and after review of the bidder’s qualifications the contract was awarded to Hiers & Co from Baxley, GA.
Actual work on site has begun and is expected to move forward as weather permits.
Temporary road work is nearing completion in preparation for school opening.

Brick masonry continues around the classroom wings. However the rainy weather conditions continue to impact schedule this week.
The fine arts auditorium is taking shape now that all walls are in place and the structure and roof is in place.
The line of sight from ALL seat locations in the auditorium can be experienced now as can be seen with the attached photographs.
The Board of Education approved built- in seat backs for the gym bleachers on the home side.
This is a nice upgrade for the fans of the activities held in the gym.
A virtual reality presentation of the gymnasium area was recently experienced by the Board of Education .
To the board members’ delight they were able to see the space as it will appear when completed.
The parking lot addition is moving forward in preparation for the upcoming school year.
A recent review of budget and schedule show the project is a little ahead of schedule and remains within budget.
The gymnasium steel structure is in place and masonry walls are 60% complete. The roof deck is installed and the roof is scheduled within the month.
The fine arts auditorium shall be dried-in this week and the balcony is poured. The space is truly impressive.
The school maintenance staff started bi-weekly tours with the mechanical and electrical sub-contractors. These tours are part of the inclusive design/construction process SP Design promotes to help future operations of the facility.
Brick masonry has begun on the classroom wings. The foam insulation/vapor barrier system is installed on 2 classroom wings. The insulation systems used on the building envelope will help reduce energy use for the life of the building.
The gym structure is 95% complete and masonry is 60% complete.
A full engineering review and testing of the structural connections shall be completed before June 30th.

With additional masonry crews now on site the concrete block masonry has accelerated. The classroom wings masonry construction is 99% complete. Two of the classroom wings are roofed. The HVAC duct system is scheduled for preliminary air pressure test this week (8, May 2017). The fine arts balcony steel structure is in place ready for concrete pour. The fine arts area masonry is 90% complete and is scheduled to be roofed by June 1, 2017.
Block fill primer paint is schedule to start in the classroom wings on or before June 1, 2017.
The project continues to track slightly ahead of schedule. The construction manager continues to be diligent in staffing the jobsite. Approximately 100 people are on site daily. The owner architect and construction manager meet bi-weekly to review progress and address any issues that require attention.
