This new facility anchored in downtown Cordele established the commitment of both Darton College and the Community. SPDG worked with the Crisp County Industrial Development Authority to finance the construction and the proposed Tenant (Darton College) to program the building to the needs of each. A Master Campus plan was developed such that this three-story classroom and administration building is designed to serve as the center of the new downtown campus. The building not only features general classrooms, lab space for chemical and physical sciences, nursing technology laboratory space and an administrative suite, but it also has a large general purpose room which when funding is aquired, will be finished in such a way as to benefit the community as well as serve the College.
The project involved many stakeholders: City and County government, Darton College, Industrial Authority, Board of Regents, State Historic Preservation and the Department of Transportation due to adjacent properties.
